Regular meetings first Wednesday of the month, September through June

Annual meeting, June

trestle board from wor.david r. brecken

From the East

Well February 2, 2011, the lodge was privileged to hear Wor. Seth Crowell perform the Middle Chamber Ritual and Wor. Ralph Desmond perform the Letter “G”.  From what I gather, overall it was a good night with the Junior and Senior Wardens doing a step up night to cover my absence.  Thanks to Wor. Des, Wor. Rooney, and Wor. Morton for filling in as the Junior Warden Junior Deacon, Marshall/Chaplain.  We conferred to Fellow Craft Degree on Brothers Steven Edward Christiansen and Greg Bruce Witter. I believe that for Wor. Crowell, it may have been a very long time since he had done the Middle Chamber, but the memory banks were in excellent form from what I hear.  And as always, Wor. Des does a nice job.

The Chili Dinner was prepared by Wor. Houser and Brother Matt Coleman and hopefully it wasn’t too spicy for everyone and that you all went straight home afterwards.  I had it several nights before and thought it was good and the price was right.  I know for this coming month for the third degree, it will be a prime rib dinner, so everyone needs to call in if you want to eat.  No phone call and most likely no dinner.  This is an expensive meal and can be very costly and because of that, we will only be cooking for those who have reservations plus five.

A vote was had on an Honorarium membership to the lodge for Wor. David Hunt which passed resoundingly.  This entitles Wor. Hunt for life membership and it is an honor to have him as a member of Mt. Horeb Lodge and I am sure all of you, as well as I, understand that Wor. Hunt is and has been a real contribution to the fraternity on Cape Cod.

March 2, we will be conferring the sublime degree of Master Mason on Brothers Greg Bruce Witter and Steven Edward Christiansen.  The regular officers of Mt. Horeb Lodge will perform the first section.  For the short form 2nd section, that will be performed by Wor. Chronis Kalivas and the Past Masters.  For the long form 2nd section and the 3rd section, it will be the regular officers as they are well qualified to conduct the work.  We will also be having a fraternal visit from Right Worshipful Hank Burke.  RW Hank Burke made a moving speech about what it means to be an active Mason, versus just in being a member at his fraternal visit to Pilgrim Lodge and for those of you who weren’t there, it was from the heart.  So please make every attempt to attend the meeting to show the admiration and support of our new members and our new district deputy,  We can only benefit in the long haul.  Remember you get out what you put in!

There will be a CHIPS program for the Ezra Baker School in South Dennis on April 2nd from 9 to 11:30 a.m.  and a Blood Drive in our lodge on April 30th.  More info will be forthcoming.    We will need help for both events.  Please volunteer and share your friendship and camaraderie with others.  You are important to our lodge succeeding and being recognized for our efforts in the community.

Don’t forget, bring a brother that hasn’t been to lodge for a while and get your dinners for ½ price!!!!  Let’s build up our sidelines and have fun!!!

Fraternally,

 W. David Brecken
