From the East
September is right around the corner and the beginning of our new Masonic year. Let’s start right and offer a prayer to our comrades in arms who are out waging the battle for our freedom and safety. Irregardless of your political views, these are our men in arms, our children, our fathers, brothers, cousins, mothers and sisters. Let us not forget the long heritage that we have in the United States of helping our fellow man and our Masonic Brethren.
Well summer is nearly over for 2010 and I hope that all of you have made the most of it. We have had some extremely hot weather, and some really great days for us to enjoy and be with family and friends and hopefully have time for vacation.
We had an installation on July 24th and fun was had by those in attendance. A special thanks to Worshipful James Bennett, RW James Gilrein II, Worshipful Herb Bell, and Brother Keith Mielke for their assistance as Installing Officers and Worshipful Ralph Desmond for his outstanding Paul Revere charge. Unfortunately, we will have to install the rest of the officers on September 1st, as some were unavailable due to prior commitments. We will also be having a first degree that night.
The officers of Mount Horeb Lodge have begun practicing to ensure that you, our members and visiting brethren, will be treated to excellence in ritual and fun filled evenings at our meetings. We are all excited to bring you the best that we can and look forward to this year and the many opportunities that may arise to help our lodge grow in strength, numbers, and stature among all the lodges.
Be assured that we will try to keep the costs down for meals, but the price will be reflective of the meals provided. A very key aspect for our lodge is that we need help in setting up the lodge, serving and clean up. This is a call for help! So brethren, remember, we are here to support and help each other. So lend a helping hand. Also, no reservation made is a "no" dinner night for you. So call in your reservations, I will be talking about this and the plans for this year in the near future. We will be looking at setting up a dinner reservation phone tree.
So come join us and bring your wit, your thoughts, your skills, your friendship and your love for the fraternity to our lodge and let us all grow together and enjoy the camaraderie of being a mason. Thank you for the honor of being elected to Master of Mount Horeb Lodge, the Flagship Lodge.
Fraternally,
Worshipful David R. Brecken
