masonic angel fund

One of the fundamental principles of the Masonic Angel Fund™ program is that 100% of the money raised by a local Lodge's Masonic Angel Fund™ stays in that community and goes to the kids. All overhead of the local MAF is covered by the sponsoring Lodge from its operating budget. There are few charity programs anywhere that can make such a claim.

The Fund provides modest assistance to children in need who do not fit the criteria for the usual social-service programs. Such assistance might be to provide a pair of glasses, a coat, shoes, field trip fees or minor health services. MAF benevolences can cover almost any need that will enhance a child's learning experience - some Masonic Angel Funds even provide scholarships for music and fine arts instruction. Applications for assistance will be fulfilled via confidential requests from local school principals, counselors and school nurses.

masonic youth child identification program (myCHIP)

MYCHIP (Masonic Youth Child Identification Program) has identified more than 250,000 children since its inception in 1988, and it continues to assist families today. The program provides tools to help law enforcement authorities find and identify a lost or missing child. The Masons of Massachusetts, partnering with the Massachusetts Crime Prevention Officers Association and the Massachusetts Dental Association, donate MYCHIP resources to make this service available to the public. None of the materials are copies and all the identifying materials are given to the child's family.

The Free Program Materials

  • VIDEOTAPE: A brief videotaped interview that can be quickly distributed to the media in order to reach a huge audience.
  • FINGERPRINTING: Fingerprinting is a well-known means of identification. Resourceful parents keep fingerprints available should the need arise.
  • TOOTHPRINTS: A tooth print bite impression is quick and easy. Teeth, like fingerprints are unique. A dental imprint gives both accurate and important information for identification purposes.
  • CHEEKSWAB: A Q-tip is gently rubbed on the inside of a child’s cheek to gather DNA material.

Have a MYCHIP Event in your Community

If you would like a local Masonic lodge to organize a MYCHIP event in your community, please call 617.426.6040 x4214, or email your request to mychip@massfreemasonry.org. MYCHIP can be held at schools, public events, or for your private group – anywhere a large group of children will be present.
